Summary:
- Dubai Museum
- Back through the Bur Dubai souk
- The Camel House & Sheikh Saeed Al-Maktoum House
- Heritage and Diving Villages
We went to the Dubai Museum, which only cost us 3 Dhs each to get in, that’s less than $1. The Dubai Museum was located in an old fort. From here we walked through the Bur Dubai souk again where we each tried on head dresses. Then we headed to the Camel House, which exhibited a whole lot of information about camels. Sheikh Saeed Al-Maktoum House was just next to this, which is a 30-room courtyarded house built in 1896.
We then walked over to the Heritage and Diving Villages, which were pretty much deserted so maybe we went at the wrong time. We were both getting peckish, so stopped off for some fries by Dubai Creek. The interesting thing about the menu is that the English prices did not match the Arabic prices (I learnt how to read Arabic numbers), so presumably that’s their way of ripping off tourists… if only I knew how to order in Arabic. Here we saw a few cats, there seems to commonly be cats wandering around. Later walking back we saw the first dog over here. Dogs don’t appear to be very common, likely due to the high-rise lifestyle here. Today is when we realized that Dubai comes to life at night, on our way back through Bur Dubai souk all of the stalls were open and it was buzzing with people. Most of the tourist sites here are open until 10pm.
